Moms of Multiples

My cousin had this posted on their blog. It had me laughing. Been asked all of these questions.

For Halloween this year. the kids picked pretty easy costumes, and actually stuck with their decisions. We got to dress up a few different times this year. We had a ward Fall Festival that we attended and that is where I snapped these pictures. I'm glad I didn't it then instead of waiting. It was pouring rain the night we went Trick or Treating and so the kids only wore parts of their costumes and I didn't even dress up the twins. I drove the older two kids door to door so it would cut down on how much they got wet. The older two also got to dress up for their Halloween programs that their schools put on.

Samantha decided to reuse her dance costume from last year and was a purple and black fairy. She picked to be called Megan the Monday fairy from the Fairy books by Daisy Meadow. I'm glad she picked the character based on her costume instead of me having to come up with something based on the character.

Eston really wanted to be Diego for Halloween. He made this easy by settling on items we had around the house. He got BACKPACK for his birthday and we printed out a DIEGO watch and badge from the Nick Jr. website. He loved it and told everyone about it when he went door to door.

This has been one of my favorite costumes over the years. Logan went as Superman. Maybe I love it because he got to wear two forms of underwear. Royal blue long johns, and Eston's red underwear. I made the cape and emblem a few years ago for Eston. Logan was grinning from ear to ear all night long.

Oh, Lucy!! To start out I just need to say that Lucy was happy. This is her saying cheese for the camera. She looks like she is in pain. Lucy was also a fairy like Sammie. You can't see her wings because they are small. She loved her twirly skirt, but loved the candy more than anything.

Our next adventure, Potty Training!!! I might need chocolate!

Spooktacular 2nd Birthday Party!!

We celebrated the TWINS 2nd BIRTHDAY on Friday. We decided to head up to Idaho and spend the day with Grandma Brenda and Papa Dallas. On Friday Uncle Jordan and Aunt Kim came to hang out and play as well. In the evening we had a birthday party/costume party to celebrate. We came up with costumes that Grandma had stored away in her house and had a good time. Matt wore a Japanese robe, I was some Egyptian rocker person, Sammie called herself Spidergirl, Eston was a bat, Logan was a super hero, and Lucy was a ballerina with a dog ears. Like I said, very last minute and home made.

Aunt Kim and Stuart played along as well.

But I loved Grandma Brenda and Papa Dallas's costumes. Papa actually wore his to work, and got compliments on his dark hair (color in a can).

The Party was complete with Cupcakes, pin the witch hat on the frog (what we had on hand), and presents.

Logan was so excited to receive birthday money from Grandma and Grandpa Ottersberg.

However, Lucy had many important phone calls to make.

I can't believe that they are already two. The time has passed by so quickly. Logan is the happiest kid I know. As long as he is fed and has had sleep, he laughs and smiles about everything. Logan is also a little terror. He likes to tease and torment ALL of his siblings and thinks it's fun because it works. He loves singing the songs, I LOVE YOU from Barney, and the ABC's. Logan loves cars and trains, and any type of automotive there is.

Lucy is our independent child. I call her a scraper. Since she is the youngest and was the smallest, she fights for everything she wants, and usually wins. Lucy LOVES Samantha and wants to do everything that Sammie is doing. Lucy has taken it upon her to move to a big girl bed, and the big event of the moment is that she is potty training herself. I have dragged my feet on this, but she is going full steam ahead. Lucy loves to sing and dance. She like watching Diego and Elmo. Lucy is a big talker and has a pretty big vocabulary.

Logan weight: 28 lbs   height: 34 1/2"
Lucy weight: 27 lbs  height: 34 1/4"

It is fun to see the difference in the TWINS personalities. They love each other and always wants to know where the other one is. However, they are each others biggest adversaries. They are constantly competing with one another for Matt's or my attention.

WE LOVE YOU BOTH!! HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY!!

Fashion Remix 2010

I just have to say, MY HUSBAND IS AN AWESOME FASHION DESIGNER. That is a phrase I didn't think I would have ever used. This isn't your amateur designs with Satin, Silks, Cotton Poly Blends, or Pleather. This is big time. This Fashion show was designs based off of Materials. The list would include Carpet, Wood, Tile, Laminate, office furniture, Dal-Tile, Formica, etc. This is the type of clothes every girl dreams of.

(us at the Big Event. Go BABY!!)

It was called FASHION REMIX 2010

Matt joined into a competition with other people in his firm. The teams were comprised of Architects, Fashion Designers, Interior Design students, and a few others. The teams were paired up with some sort of Textile company. Matt's group was assigned Dal-Tile. They then had to design a dress that was made 90% of the materials that the company produced and sold. (I think.)

This is their finished Product. Matt said the top alone weighed between 12 to 15 lbs. (Aren't you glad your shirts don't weigh that much?)

The models for the dresses were one member of each team.
Her are just a few of the 23 entries that had entered.

This one was the winner of the event. Do you love the light inside the skirt?

This was the Lady Gaga representation of the night.

Celebrate Women 5K in Boise

At the end of September I went with Matt's side of the family to Boise to participate in a 5K with the grandma, aunts, cousins, cousin's friend, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, and girlfriend.
My sister-in-law, Ashley, flew with me there and broke the window on the airplane on the way. it was one of the most entertaining flights I've flown in a while.

That's Ashley. She broke the window. We were waiting for the race to start.

I wish I had gotten a picture with the whole group. We had a blast. I enjoyed the short break from the kids and spending time with these women. It is always nice when you can step out of the norm and get to know someone better. I look forward to this again next year.

RYLA 2010

Matt and I got involved with Rotary about 4 years ago and some day hope to join. We have tried to attend RYLA every year. It is the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. We pretty much spend 3 days with 130+ juniors in high school. We have a blast doing it and look forward to it every year. We would never be able to have this much needed break without the help of my mother-in-law. She took time out of her busy schedule to come and stay with the kids so that Matt and I could attend together this year. Thank you Thank you.

We went and got separate groups of about 7-8 kids that we were Team Leaders over. It was held at Heber Valley Camp. It was gorgeous.

The big service project push this year is called "Purple Pinkie's for Polio". Long story, but Rotary is trying to eradicate Polio from the world by 2012.

Matt and I got dressed up with newspaper as fictional characters. I was lucky enough to be Barney (in case you couldn't tell).

Matt was a space alien.

We love being apart of RYLA each year.

Preschool Man

Eston has started preschool. He is so excited. It is nice having something fun for just him. It is also nice to have just two kids for a few hours a week.

The parents were invited to stay for the first 30 minutes of school. Eston was so excited that he pushed me out the door within 2 minutes of us arriving at his school.

He wore his special hat the entire day and part of the next day.

Kindergarten and Knee Surgery

Samantha started Kindergarten yesterday. It was a big day at our house. Matt and I officially have a kid in the public school system.
She was so excited for this day we even had a count down.

Because I was out of commission, Matt took Sammie to her class and stayed with the rest of the parents for the first 45 minutes and did activities with her. He said she was just grinning from ear to ear.

While we were taking pictures Eston wanted his taken. He will start preschool this year and can't figure out why we haven't sent him yet.

On a different note, earlier this summer I had started having knee pain in my right knee. The doctor told me to wait a few more weeks before doing an MRI just to see if it healed on it's own. The pain decreased quite a bit and I had decided that it was just a pulled muscle and went about my entire (active) summer with some discomfort. Matt finally talked me into going back to the doctors office to have it looked at. I went in on a Monday and he told me to go get an MRI which I got two days later on Wednesday. I got a call from Dr. Hess the next day telling me that I had a meniscus (sp) tear and it would need surgery. It just so happens that he had an opening the next day.
So just this past Friday Matt took me in for knee surgery (a scope). I am surprised at how quick the recovery has been and that I am already walking around (kind of) without crutches on it. We are so grateful for all the friends and family that have helped with kids and for Matt's family for taking the twins for a full week back to Idaho so I wouldn't have to chase them up and down the stairs (among other things).

Happy 4th Eston!!

Eston celebrated his 4th birthday!! He has been looking forward to this every since Sammie turned 5 in May.

We went earlier in the day to Chuckie Cheese with his cousins and had a great time. Then headed home for a little family party.

Eston wanted everything Diego. That is what he wants to be for Halloween.

So Matt came up with this sweet idea for his birthday cake.

Lindsay stopped by just in time for cake and we even relit the candles for her and let her blow them out. Eston picked out a red velvet cake mix for his birthday. We decided to eat the cake outside and finish off the party by hosing the kids done in the back yard. The twins loved it.

Happy Birthday Big Boy!!

Summer Snap Shot

I feel like it has been forever since I blogged last. So here is a quick look at what we have been doing.
6 weeks of summer programs (spending everyday at the park)
Summer literacy program
Sending Braden (Matt's brother) off on his mission.
Bear Lake trip with the Pedersen family (awesome)
Fourth of July Extravaganza
Samantha's 5th birthday
Youth Conference (for me)
6 day camping trip with Ottersbergs
Mohawk
Girls camp
and all the other little things that fill in the cracks.

Here are some pics of our fun summer (in no particular order):

Singing Girl's Camp songs around the camp fire (Peel Banana)

Sammie staying up with the big people camping. Didn't quite make it as long as the rest of us.

Papa Dallas took the twins out on a long long long walk. They crashed on his lap the moment he got back.

Doing evening crafts with cousins.

Sammie and Cami posing crazy. They are a week apart and had a great time together.

Double duty. The twins were jealous of the backpack and would fight over whose turn it was.

Everytime that Eston went on the boat he fell asleep. We wore that kid out.

Having fun with cousins on the big tube.

Lucy and Logan ended up spending three of the five nights in our sleeping bag with us.

Matt tried sporting the Mohawk for 48 hours. Isn't he hot? We got a few looks during the Pioneer Day celebrations.

Sammie and Eston enjoyed all the classes that they took this summer.

We went to Bear Lake and they had fun jumping over the waves.

Lucy wore herself out and fell asleep at lunch while at the cabin.

The fourth of July is always fun with the matching outfits.

Logan and Lucy discovered the joys of candy being thrown.

Sammie turned 5 in May and will start Kindergarten this year. We are both excited.
