POTTY POWER

Okay!!! This is the whole part of parenthood that I have been dreading. I can deal with snotty noses, dirty diapers, being thrown up on, even having diapers blow-out on me. Really, I can!!! What I don't think I can deal with is POTTY TRAINING!!! The time has arrived, I think!!! I am 99% sure that Sammie is ready for this. However that 9 months of pregnancy and the last two years of diapers has still not prepared me for the storm. I am open to any advice one would feel inclined to offer. I am starting on Monday and hoping we have it down, somewhat, by Thursday. I have a whole new repsect for mothers who have gone before me in this endeavor.

Sammie wants to be ready but we will see. She is as stubborn as both of her parents and this is going to require all my tricks at one time. She may look sweet, but really she is a force to be reckoned with. I'm just hoping we both make it out alive.

What are you talking about, I loved potting training...NOT!! Ya, it's not fun. I basically camped out in the bathroom for about a week with movies, books, treats and songs. It was exciting, let me tell ya. Maren picked up how #1 worked in a couple of weeks, but the other finally was accomplished three months later and she finally graduated from potty school. GOOD LUCK!!

Okay, this worked great for Abby. We just made a chart that had like 20 squares on it and evertime she went potty on the toilet she put a sticker on. Once she had all 20 stickers she got a prize. The first chart filled up quicker than I thought. So the next chart was like 50 or 75 squares. We did like 3 charts but it totally worked. I think we did a candy bar for the first prize and a toy for the second. Charts totally worked for her though. Night time didn't count for the charts. We took longer for that, but for night time we had to not give her anything to drink after dinner for a while. Now she can drink and she'll wake up and go but I still limit it. Good Luck!

Ahhh, the potty training days! One of the best things that you have going for you is that SAMMIE is wanting to be ready. I know the best thing for my girls was always praise, praise, praise when they did well. You should go ahead and expect that there will be some accidents, and the worse thing you can do is show her your frustration because then it will only cause a setback. I never did the chart like Shanon said, but I have heard how well that works. I remember my mom having a jar of M&M's in our fridge that was STRICTLY for Jono for when he went to the potty. My mom always said to focus and reward for the good, but if they goof up, just to say, "I know you'll remember next time." Good luck!

Let her run around with no clothese or diapers on all day, and feed her lots of fluids and put on movies all day. I let ben sit on a towel on my couch with the bathroom within 3 feet and it was almost too easy. oh yeah, rewards and treats are a must. Girls are supposed to be easier than boys, so it's shouldn't be too bad.
